A Tribute to our late stallion Can Don Joshua Danny.......
Welcome to JaF Morgan Stock Horses, where the passion is strong for both the Morgan Horse, and for Vaquero style Bridle Horse training, as well. In fact, the prefix, JaF, stands for Jaquima a Freno (Ha-kee-ma ah Fray-no) - or Hackamore to Bridle, in Spanish.
Morgans have a long history of being Bridle Horses. They have the conformation, the mentality, and the physical aptitude to do the job – something that history shows us was recognized even in early Western America. It is an honor to have the opportunity to bring these characteristics to the forefront of the public eye once again.
While the colts who are for sale will not generally be “bridled” when they are solid enough to go to a new home (it is about a 5-year process - from first ride to being straight up in the bridle), the fact remains that I strive to breed horses that are capable of becoming Bridle Horses. This requires physical, mental, and emotional capabilities not often required of colts. But being particular is a lesson I have learned from the best.
The wonderful foundation stallion, JaF Sunrise Surfer Dude, son of the magnificent CanDon Joshua Danny, is now standing at stud. Surfer Dude and all but one of our broodmares are of strong Western Working bloodlines, and several of the mares are Foundation. Surfer goes back to Tio Lalo, via Californio and Shatona Karzan on the top, and Flyhawk, Jubilee King, and Higuera Bandido on the bottom.
Words cannot begin to convey the gratitude and unequaled admiration, that I have for the people who bred the fine horses that are in Surfer’s pedigree. Unquestionably, these are wonderful, proven bloodlines with incredible history, beauty, and athletic ability. Surfer is no exception, as he has proven himself to be a talented Working Cow Horse as well as a fabulous trail mount.
Because I breed, raise, and then typically train the riding-age colts before sale, there is usually quite a herd roaming around the various pastures and visitors love to wander around and visit with the stock – all of whom are gentle, well mannered, and extremely friendly.
I hope you will enjoy meeting these Morgans and looking over the farm, through these pages.
