Red Range Chamisa Carrie has been an incredible horse for us. I have ridden her extensively; she is a superb dressage horse and performs up to 4th-level maneuvers with ease and grace. She jumps. She is a terrific pack horse and mountain trail riding horse. She does everything. Amazingly athletic, she passes on her wonderful movement and ability to her foals. They are as elegant as she is. Click here for details. Sold to the Helliwell Family of Strathmore, CA. |

NVS Mi Sonnetta Sonnetta came to me in a roundabout way, one of those fascinating coincidences of life where everything just falls into place and we get blessed in a manner we never expected. Sonnetta and I have a bond that is unusual, and very strong. She spent the last 2 seasons as my primary mountain horse, leading pack strings and working on cattle drives. In fact, she stars in a few of the stories in my Articles section on this site. She is small, but a powerhouse of energy and spirit. I love her “I not only can – I WILL do it” attitude, and the fact she is absolutely fearless. At the end of the cattle drive last year, one of the other riders told me that what made the trip for him was watching Sonnetta and me dive right off the edge of the cliffs after cows, and never even hesitate. That IS Sonnetta. So far she has foaled a stunning smokey black colt (by Chalk Mt Sunny Mac) in 2008, and a very handsome buckskin colt (by JaF Sunrise Surfer Dude) in 2010. She is in foal to Surfer again, for a 2012 youngster. She has taken to the job of motherhood as easily as every job I’ve given her. |

Lee's Mar-Star Lee is originally from Arkansas. Our very dear friend, Wendy LeGate, told us about her and it wasn't long before Lee joined our now-growing broodmare herd. Lee has never been trained to ride. She suffered an ugly accident in her pasture years before we bought her, and lost her right eye. However, she took to our halter training and groundwork like the trooper she is - and has proven to be a superb mother. Lee's coloring is very unusual - and striking. |
Hideaway Starlight Moon Starlight is the horse who got us started breeding Morgans. Although we rode and packed her for a few years, we ultimately learned that she had apparently suffered a traumatic injury years before, and this old injury was causing her occasional pain. So, the vets we consulted felt she should be kept home and become a broodmare. Well the rest is history. Starlight is our lone mare of non-serious 2WF breeding. Instead, she is a mix of Government, Brunk, Lippitt, 2WF, and old show breeding. An incredibly showey and beautiful mare, her babies have her head and self-carriage. |

Triple S Nita A stunning, huge palomino of very strong WWF breeding, Nita has been leased to us for a couple of years by her owner, Lynn Brown of Long Beach. Nita had been a broodmare for several years before Lynn purchased her, but had never been ridden. Lynn sent Nita to me and we got her started under saddle, and until Lynn gets her dream ranch Nita may remain here with us. Nita has had foals for us by Zorro, Chalk Mt Sunny Mac, and Surfer. After a couple of years working in my pack string, she is once again in foal - this time to Gunny (JaF Smoke and Guns) for a 2012 baby. This will be Gunny's only youngster as I had him gelded shortly thereafter. Nita has the coolest, most laid-back personality ever and she really loves human contact. She’s truly a joy to be around. |
